This document describes how to enable JavaScript in the following browsers:
Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL, Mozilla, and Opera.

- Simply reloading your page, rather than restarting the browser, maybe sufficient under some browser versions.
How to Enable JavaScript
For Windows-based Browsers
Internet Explorer 5, 5.5, and 6:
- Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- Click the Security tab.
- Select the internet zone for which you would like to adjust javascript settings. (Internet, Local intranet, Trusted sites, or Restricted sites)
- Click the Custom Level... button. The Security settings dialog box will pop up.
- Under Scripting category select the "Enable" radio button next to: Active
Scripting, Allow paste options via script, and Scripting of Java applets.
- Click OK. Then click the Yes button in the "Are sure you wish to change the security settings for this zone?" window.
- Click OK in the Internet Options dialog box.
- Close all open Internet Explorer windows, and then relaunch Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer 4.0:
- Select Internet Options from the View menu.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click Custom.
- Click Settings.
- Scroll down to locate Scripting.
- Click Enable for Active Scripting.
- Click OK, then click the Reload button.
Internet Explorer 3.x:
- Select Options from the View menu.
- Click Security.
- Check Enable Java Programs.
- Click OK, then click the Reload button.
Netscape Navigator 6+:
- Select Edit from the menu bar and click on Preferences.
- Select the Advanced option.
- Click on checkbox next to Enable JavaScript for Navigator
- Click the OK button.
- Close this window, and click the Reload button in the browser's row of icons.
Netscape 4.x:
- Select Preferences from the Edit menu.
- Click Advanced.
- Check Enable JavaScript.
- Click OK.
Netscape 3.0:
- Select Options from the Edit menu.
- Click Network Preferences.
- Click Languages.
- Check Enable JavaScript.
- Click OK.
America Online (AOL):
- Select Settings.
- Select Preferences.
- Select Internet Properties.
- Select Custom Level.
- Scroll down the Custom Level screen to Scripting.
- Enable Active Scripting.
- Select Okay.
- Select Yes that you want to change the security settings.
- Select Okay.
- Close the Preference window.
- Close this window, and click the Reload button
in the browser's row of icons.
AOL 4.0 and 5.0:
- Click My AOL.
- Click Preferences.
- Click WWW.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click Custom.
- Click Settings.
- Scroll down to locate Scripting.
- Click Enable for Active Scripting.
- Click OK, then click the Reload button.
Mozilla:
- Select Edit from the menu bar and click on Preferences.
- Click on plus sign next to Advanced to show Advanced options.
- Click on Scripts & Plugins.
- Click on the checkbox next to Navigator under Enable JavaScript for.
- Click the OK button.
- Close this window, and click the Reload button
in the browser's row of icons.
Opera:
- Select File from the menu bar and click on Quick preferences.
- Click on the checkbox next to Enable JavaScript.
- Close this window, and click the Reload button
in the browser's row of icons.
Opera 5.0:
- Select Preferences from the File menu.
- Click Multimedia.
- Check Enable JavaScript under
Javascript.
- Click OK.
For Macintosh-based Browsers
Internet Explorer 5.x:
- Select Explorer under OS X or Edit under earlier OSs from the
menu bar and click on Preferences....
- Click on triangle next to Web Browser to open sub-menu if needed.
- Under Active Content, click on checkbox next to Enable Scripting
- Click the OK button.
- Close this window, and click the Refresh button
in the browser's row of icons.
Netscape 7.x:
- Select Netscape under OS X or Edit under earlier OSs from the
menu bar and click on Preferences....
- Click on triangle next to Advanced to open sub-menu if needed.
- Click on Scripts & Plugins.
- Click on checkbox next to Navigator under Enable JavaScript for.
- Click the OK button.
- Close this window, and click the Reload button
in the browser's row of icons.
Safari:
- Select Safari from the
menu bar and click on Preferences....
- Click on the Security icon.
- Click on checkbox next to Enable JavaScript.
- Close that window.
- Close this window, and click the Reload button
in the browser's row of icons.
Mozilla:
- Select Mozilla under OS X or Edit under earlier OSs from the
menu bar and click on Preferences....
- Click on triangle next to Advanced to open sub-menu if needed.
- Click on Scripts & Plugins.
- Click on checkbox next to Navigator under Enable JavaScript for.
- Click the OK button.
- Close this window, and click the Reload button
in the browser's row of icons.
AOL for Mac OS X:
- Select AOL from the
menu bar and click on Preferences....
- Click on the www icon in the scrolling list on the left side.
- Click on the Content tab.
- Click on checkbox next to Enable Javascript.
- Click the OK button.
- Close this window, and click the Reload button
in the browser's row of icons.
